Getting paid

The public invoice page

Every invoice has a public link, used in the invoice email and available from Copy link on the invoice.

The page shows your logo, company name, address and Tax ID; the status; the billing contact; the issue and due dates; the balance due; the subject; the line table; the totals; and your notes. The client can use Copy link, Print and PDF.

  • The link does not expire. A paid invoice remains available as a receipt.
  • Drafts return a 404. The link resolves once the invoice is sent.

Card and ACH payments

With Stripe connected, the public page shows a Pay invoice by card or ACH button, which opens Stripe's hosted checkout for the balance due. Completed payments are recorded against the invoice and the status updates without further action.

Funds settle into your own Stripe account. Work does not hold funds or receive card details.

Connecting Stripe

Invoices → Configure → Client payments, owner-only. The card has three states:

  1. Not connected: Connect Stripe starts Stripe's business verification.
  2. Setup incomplete: Continue Stripe setup.
  3. Connected: “Payments settle directly to your Stripe account.” Manage Stripe account opens the Stripe dashboard.

Without a connection, the public page states that payment should be made by the means arranged with you. Invoicing is otherwise unaffected.

Recording a payment

Use the Payments card on the invoice for payments received outside Stripe.

Press Record payment. Multiple partial payments are supported. The invoice becomes paid when the balance reaches zero, and returns to sent if a payment is deleted.

Manually entered payments can be deleted. Stripe payments cannot.

Drafts cannot take payments.

Payment reminders

Reminders are off by default.

Enable them in Invoices → Configure → Payment reminders with Send payment reminders automatically, then set two values.

SettingDefaultMeaning
Send reminders once invoices are this many days late7When the first reminder is sent
And every this many days after7The interval for subsequent reminders

Both accept 1 to 90 days. The schedule runs in the account timezone.

An invoice is chased when it has been sent, has a remaining balance, has reminders enabled at both account and invoice level, has a contact with an email address and that address has not bounced.

Enabling reminders does not send a backlog. An invoice already 40 days late receives its next scheduled reminder only.

Per-invoice control

A sent, unpaid invoice has a Pause reminders or Resume reminders button and states its current status: on the schedule, paused or not being chased.

The Reminder history card lists reminders already sent and the date of the next one.

The reminder email has the subject “INV-0001 from your company is 7 days overdue” and links to the public invoice page.
