Images

Braindrop can hold images as well as text, one per drop.

Attach an image

The upload button appears at the bottom-right of the capture field, but only while the field is empty — a drop is either text or an image, never both. Click it to pick a file, or drag an image straight onto the capture area.

Accepted types: PNG, JPEG, GIF and WEBP, up to 5 MB. A file that fails either check doesn’t attach — a dialog explains why:

  • Only images are supported right now — try uploading a png, jpeg, gif or webp file.
  • Image too large — that image can’t be uploaded. The limit is 5 MB.

An attached image saves immediately, the same as a text drop, and appears at the bottom of the list.

View an image drop

Collapsed, an image drop shows a small thumbnail beside its original filename. Click it to expand to the image’s full size (up to a limit), with the filename below. Animated GIFs play in both states.

Row actions

Image drops offer the same actions pill as text drops, with Download in place of Edit:

ActionWhat it does
CopyCopies the image itself to the clipboard
ShareOpens the macOS share sheet with the image
DownloadSaves the original file, with its original filename, wherever you choose
ArchiveMoves the drop to the Archive

Image drops can be archived, restored and deleted exactly like text drops — see Archive.
